Long story short, just bought an older home. With many additions, there is a partial basement and a few crawl spaces that are exposed dirt under additions that are about 3-4 feet tall. I am looking to install vinyl tile in the kitchen, but it is over one of the crawl spaces that has an exposed dirt surface. The humidity in the house was over 80% before we started running a dehumidifier in the kitchen.
I plan on sealing the crawlspaces with vaporlock 20 in the future, but do I need to do that before installing the vinyl tile. Will the high humidity from the crawlspace wick through the floor and weaken the adhesive?
Also, using a water resistant treated sub-floor like:
Will I still need to prime the floor, or is the water resistant treatment good enough.
thanks in advance for any advice.
