    Default Clothes Dryer Venting

I want to install a clothes dryer in a 110-year-old house. Can I use the now-unused (new direct-vent furnace last month!) furnace chimneystack to vent the dryer? The basement space with plumbing/electricity access is not adjacent to an outside wall. Or; can I vent through the wall into the now unused cistern. The cistern is underneath a shed addition added to the house probably 50 years ago or so. Thanks, Tony Pimm

It's best to exhaust the dryer to the outdoors.Depending how tall the chimney stack is but I think it would be to far of a run. The shorter and straighter the run the better.

    Thanks,

I thought the same, so I'm running new plumbing/electricity to the room with an outside wall for the washer/dryer.

    Sounds like a good plan.

    Good luck.
