Re: Electrical Technology presentation?
What is the name/nature of your course?
And do you mean electrical or electronic technology?
I guess most of the current developments in electrical technology have to do with energy efficiency in p0wer generation, particularly in emerging technologies such as wind and solar p0wer. Even so, many hydroelectric facilities are also rebuilding their generators to be more efficient, delivering more p0wer for the same amount of water passing through the turbines.
On the end-user front, you can consider the efficiencies gained through the development of CFL and LED lighting and demand-driven water heaters.
There currently isn't much going on development-wise in the p0wer transmission industry (the middleman between the producer and the consumer).
You could also look at how electrical p0wer is being used in new ways to p0wer things that traditionally are p0wered by other energy sources such as gas, coal, or oil. One thing that comes to mind is glass factories; traditionally their melting furnaces use fossil fuels, but there has been at least one bottle factory recently built that used an electric furnace. Unfortunately, that plant went bankrupt and is currently shuttered.

The "Senior Member" designation under my name doesn't mean I know a lot, it just means I talk a lot.I've been a DIYer since I was 12 (thanks, Dad!). I have read several books on various home improvement topics. I do not have any current code books I can refer to. I was an apprentice plumber for two years.
