100 year old doors, floating panels stuck
We're redoing all the interior doors. Stripping with PeelAway and sanding, all of the floating panels are stuck due to shellac and paint. There are gaps on the side of some and a few have split.
How can we get them floating again without disassembling the doors?
Re: 100 year old doors, floating panels stuck
I've found a long and tedious way to get them free, I think.
I'm using a very tin woodworking tool, chisel shape. I work my way around the panel on both sides of the door, carefully, and they will move. They still don't float, but they do move.
Would it be adviseable to inject anything into the channel around the panel, i.e. linseed oil?
