    Default Disabling Hood Vent

I have an old Kitchen Aire Hood vent that is turning itself on and off without regard to the setting on the switch. This is very annoying. I have tried to disable the fan by (after turning off the power) clipping the wires to the switch. No joy. The fan keeps turning itself on and off.

    Can anyone help?

    1. Turn off the breaker supplying power to the hood.
    2. Find the incoming power line at the hood and disconnect the hood wires from the supply wiring.
    3. Install wire nuts AND electrical tape over each le of the supply line
    4. Button hood back up.
    5. Turn on breaker.

    Thanks for the help.

In my setup there is a switch (obviously not working) on the wall. The fan itself is mounted (fairly securely) to the exterior of the house. Should disconnect the incoming line from the switch installation or should I remove the fan housing and remove the line from the fan itself?

    Thanks again for your advice.
