Default heard a pop now window will not stay open

I was raising a window in my home, heard a pop and now the window will not stay open. The home was built in 1994. Can I fix this or do I have to replace the entire window?

Many of the modern windows have a spring system, usually in sort of a cartridge, on each side of the sliding portion of the window. This provides a counterbalance to help you lift the window and keep it up.

The spring may have broken, or perhaps just become disengaged. Without seeing a picture of the offending window, it's hard to tell you how to fix it. If the spring is broken, you should be able to get a replacement spring cartridge from the manufacturer or a dealer.
