    Default wall framing pushing out

I have a small colonial style house in CT built in 1987. In my stair way there is a horizontal stud or joist (I think) pushing out through the wall. I am afraid my house has shifted so much that the framing is coming thorugh my dry wall, which was originally put up poorly, as you can see tape lines and tape falling off in random spots around my house. Is this a serious problem? I attached a picture. thanks

Wink Re: wall framing pushing out

Sounds like you need a good general contractor or inspector to evaluate the situation. If your rough framing is moving on its own, you need to know why. If you have a foundation shift or drop this could be seriously unsafe. Good Luck!
