    Default Floating hardwood flooring question

Do you need to install a subflooring other than the foam padding under the floating hardwood flooring or can you just lay it on the plywood subfloor that was put on the floor joists? Thanks!

No underlayment is necessary unless specified by the flooring manufacturer.

Another question - I've got 2 dogs - If I buy one of the harder woods will the dogs scratch the floor or is there some type of sealer I can put on that will prevent scratching?

There will be nothing you can do to prevent the dogs from scratching up the floor, short of keeping their nails manicured. Most of the scratching will occur in the finish, not the wood itself and the OEM finish will be harder than any aftermarket product you can apply. If you're installing a finished in place floor, you'll get some wood scaring because your finish layer will not be as hard or thick as an OEM finish.
