Basement paint and glue
I bought my first house this year and the basement walls were covered with wood paneling. Me and my husband started taking the paneling off, and found styrofoam glued to the walls and the walls were painted. Some of the paint chipped off easily but most of the glue and paint will not come off. We've tried disolvents, with no effect. It's like we have to sand blast it of or grind it off. But wouldn't that harm the foundation? I don't know. How do I get this junk off my walls so I can waterproof it.

Painted with what... a water proofing? Is there evidence of water comming in threw the walls?
