    Default old carpet pad removal

We just bought a 1907 house. It was originally all wood floors. We pulled up some pink carpet that was installed in the 50's over a beautiful longleaf pine floor. The rubber waffle padding under the carpet has deteriorated and stuck to the wood floor. Are there any tricks to removing this old pad?

Did you try rubbing alcohol? I've heard that it can do that. I'd definitely try that on someplace inconspicuous, though, just in case. You already have to refinish the floors (hard to believe someone would want to cover up those great old wood floors), so if it takes some of the finish off of them it shouldn't be a total loss. Good luck!
