    Default Greenboard or Cementboard??

I am installing a 3 piece acrylic tub wall. Right now I am down to bare studs. The manufacturer says the walls can be installed over greenboard but everything I've read elsewhere says not to use it where there may be direct contact with water. I know cementboard is used in tile applications but I don't know which I should use for the acrylic tub walls. Anybody know for sure??

    Thanks!

Great, thanks for your help. That was my impression. The greenboard is going to get a coat of primer/sealer as directed by the tub surround manufacturer too, so it seems like it will have sufficient protection.

One other question...Is it necessary to tape the joints of the greenboard behind the tub surround? I'm assuming it would be a good idea.

    Thanks again!

taping the joints of your green board behind shower enclosure is not necessary, it is also not necessary to prime the wall behind the surround as it is only a substrate to glue the fiberglass or plastic walls.(But after all that it couldn't hurt)
