Default Best polish to restore old floors?

Out of curiosity, what polish have you used to bring some life back to old floors. My floors are about 60 years old, and there's some damage in a few areas that look dried out..

Minwax makes a "revitalizer" for wood floors. Comes in a liter bottle. You may end up sanding the affected areas before they will take any remedies but it's something to try anyway.

    Good Luck.

Floors are 60 YO, but how old/new is the current finish on them? Any idea what that finish is?

If you're lucky, it's shellac.... which would be the most likely finish *if* that finish is the original. I say "lucky" only because shellac is easy to remove and reapply.

To test for shellac, pour a few drops of denatured alcohol (or good whiskey <G>) on an inconspicuous area. Allow to stand for a couple/few minutes and then see if the finish wipes up. If it does, it's likely shellac.

If some wax has been used over the shellac, you may have to remove that first before the alcohol test will be valid/conclusive.

Whatever the test reveals.......or what you may already know concerning what type of finish is present......can you post some pics of this damage so that better advice or guidance can be/ might be offered.

might even be a penetrating oil and wax finish, still quite popular in the post war building boom. If that's the case a mix of paste wax, solvent, and turpentine. 0000 finishing steel wool. Clean the old dirt first solvent or mineral spirits and steel wool.
