    Default Three-way switch question

I apologize if this is a stupid question...

In my basement, I currently have 2 three-way switches that controls the lights for the whole basement (including a bedroom that is in the basement). One of the switches is at the stairs coming down to the basement, and the other switch is located just outside the bedroom in the basement.

I think it is quite a waste of energy to have the lights on in the bedroom when we are in the basement since we don't use the bedroom a whole lot. So, is there a way of getting the switch at the stirs to control the lights outside the bedroom and the switch by the bedroom to control only the bedroom light?

    Thanks for any advice.

As dead short says, it would require pulling some new wiring .
