Locust trees sprouting up everywhere
Last fall I had a tree service cut down five black locust trees in my yard. The stumps were ground down and all debris removed. This spring I am getting new sprouts all over my yard from the underground roots left over from the trees. Can anyone suggest a way to eliminate these sprouts? I have been pulling them up, but the more I pull, the more grow back in their place! Help!
PS: These sprouts are thorny too! I live in NJ by the shore.
Re: Locust trees sprouting up everywhere
A lawn weed killer sprayed on the sprouts might help. Other than that the only thing I know to do is keep cutting or pulling until the roots give up. I cut down a pawlonia tree a year & a half ago that is still doing the same thing.
