New Windows: Brick Mould?
Hey all, need your help on this one. We have a 1946 brick house. We are about to replace the windows and we are wondering what is the best installation method. We've been told that brick mould is ideal for us, but there's also going back to what was originally there: wood trim around the window on the outside (now covered in aluminum cladding). Does anyone have any advice about the best method for installing windows on a brick house? We are looking at aluminum clad for exterior and wood wrapped interior. The brick is a facade so there is framing behind the brick. We're just not sure what's the best installation method. The windows on the south and west sides of our house get hammered with rain and sunlight. We chose aluminum clad to minimize upkeep. I guess the main question is: Do we go with the brick mould option or keep the wood trim option like how it was originally built. Which is better for weatherization? Check out photos.
