    I would probably combine a few of the ideas, i would take a rope or string or something, attach a nice big serrated knife to the end and making a small block of wood for more weight.

    also, I have cedar shakes on the outside of that part of the siding.

    so i think i will have to cut my hole shallow and sit the vent in behind the cedar shakes and use them as trim.

    okay, thank you for the suggestion of the pitch block, I made it up at 30*, moved my miter out to 45* right, no good, brought it back left to 0* getting warmer.

    ok so basically i use a 2x4 or something, cut it at 30*, then pin it to the fence, turn my miter saw to 45* and make my cut.. i think
