    If someone has pulled off wallpaper and did not wash the sizing off could be your problem. Just wash walls and prime with Kilz primer(oil base).

    Octagon boxs are usaully used for light fixture. A good gasket to seal it the house or a good silcon coulk to make it water tight.

    You should be able to get ***** off the common screw termenal of the three way switch(2),pig tail to single pole switch, then 14/2 from (3rd) to light(2).
