    Venting a Dryer

Stupid question has been bugging me. If your house has an overhang and you have a clothes dryer say on the first floor...if you vent it out the side wall wouldn't all that moist air from you wet...

    Re: Clay Drain Pipe

Yeah I measured the pipe and I also measured ANOTHER clay pipe that acts as a vent for my sewer line. They are all 5" for OUTSIDE diameter. And the inside diameter is SLIGHTLY less than 4". So I...

    Re: Clay Drain Pipe

So you think using ROOFING cement instead of Mortar Mix or Concrete Grout would NOT BE OK?

If I used the mortar mix, I was going to use newspaper to stuff up any gaps. The inside diameter of the...

    Re: Clay Drain Pipe

Thanks! This was my original idea.

I was going to try to use a grinding tool with a cutting disc to slice off the top of the pipe right BELOW the damage. But I was worried if while cutting I...

    Re: Clay Drain Pipe

I'm going to have to dig a bit. Just to get beyond the damaged section. And if I use the Fernco I want to bury it. Now the only Fernco I saw was for 4 inch clay to 4 inch PVC. But it looks like 2...

    Re: Clay Drain Pipe

Having trouble finding clay pipe that's why I wanted to use PVC.

My question can I just take out the damaged section and lay a section of PVC right on the bell of the clay pipe in the ground?

    Re: Clay Drain Pipe

I had some guys installing windows and they were tossing out aluminum frames from the windows. I think they hit the clay tile. They wouldn't admit to doing it. But it was fine before the window...

I have a clay pipe coming up in my yard next to my house to accept the downspout.

That clay pipe is cracked. I have replaced this in the past. But I can't find clay pipe in Pittsburgh.

    Is...

Re: New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

I didn't see a link, they must have pulled it.

But I think I know what you mean. I have seen it too.

One thing about vinyl. I noticed it fades. And if you need to patch it you will notice...

    Re: Nutone Kitchen Exhaust Fan

I try and watch the contractors when they come. Sometimes I swear I know more than them!

My one concern with the glass block idea is grease on the outside. But it's low enough to clean.

Re: New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

I am just in the planning stage...thus the quest for the most reliable exterior material.

I haven't noticed it much. It just looked like it wouldn't rot and you can paint it.

    Re: Nutone Kitchen Exhaust Fan

How did you handle the venting? This would be for a brick ranch built in 1956. So the hole is about 18 inches above the range and goes straight out.

So you have a hole in the side of the house. ...

I know you can get the parts. I have been trading emails with Nutone.

I think it may be easier to put in a hood.

    Then all the hardware...

New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

    Bathroom Vent Fans

What type of service person would install a bathroom vent fan? In this bathroom NO FAN ever existed.
