  1. Re: National Energy Audit - second opinion request

    Thanks guys!
The company came out one more time to address our concerns and questions.
The second guy discovered that the insulation on our basement ceiling has been installed upside down (the...
  2. Re: National Energy Audit - second opinion request

    Thank you for your response.

They did use the thermal imaging camera. The walls weren't too bad (likely due to the fact that this is a modular house). Where there was heat loss was in the...
  3. National Energy Audit - second opinion request

    Hi,

We had the National Energy Audit company check our Massachusetts house's ('79 modular ranch 1,200sq ft) efficiency and what can be done to improve it.

  4. Re: Why is my electric baseboard not heating up?

Thank you so much for all your help!!!

Turned out that the heater and thermostat were OK but (as canuk wrote) one wire got lose in the thermostat.

We are nice and toasty now :)

    Thanks again...
  5. Re: Why is my electric baseboard not heating up?

Thanks, I will give it a try tonight.
Also, is it possible that something happened to the wiring (in between the thermostat and the baseboard)? and if so, what would be the best way to check it?

  6. Re: Why is my electric baseboard not heating up?

This is a newer thermostat. I replaced all thermostats in the house few months ago with the Aube by Honeywell TH115-A-240D/U Electric Heating 7-Day Programmable Thermostat.
  7. Why is my electric baseboard not heating up?

    Hi,

Over the holidays my electric baseboard (240V) stopped heating up. The thermostat on the wall was showing that the board is heating up but the baseboard remained cold.

  10. Re: which toe kick heater for 240V, double pole, line voltage thermostat

Thank you for a very thorough response!

I believe (but I will confirm it) I have a double-pole circuit breaker, 15A...so this heater seems to be fine.

    Thanks AGAIN!
  11. Re: which toe kick heater for 240V, double pole, line voltage thermostat

    Hi,

I have in my kitchen (which is ~ 11x11) an electric baseboard, which I hardly ever use (doesn't get that cold in there) and would like to replace it with a toe kick heater...since I am...
  13. Re: Replacing the high voltage baseboard thermostat

    Thanks, NEC!
I marked the wires and connected the new thermostat. Turned the power on and voila - all works. I hear the baseboard going on and off based on the temp on the thermostat.

    YEAH! -...
  14. Re: Replacing the high voltage baseboard thermostat

    Hi NEC,
Actually there are markings for Line (L1 & L2) and load (T1 & T2)...I realized it after I posted...so maybe it won't be so bad... I will mark the wires before I disconnect them.
    I do not...

The problem is that after I shut the...
  16. Re: Electrical wiring of the electric radiant heat

That seems like a good idea, NEC - would I still be able to take advantage of the existing wiring for the electric baseboard and the existing thermostat?
    Thanks!
