  1. Re: New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

I didn't see a link, they must have pulled it.

But I think I know what you mean. I have seen it too.

One thing about vinyl. I noticed it fades. And if you need to patch it you will notice...

That quake was the one that damaged the Washington monument. I think it was like a 5

I was upstairs on my pc and I felt it.

I heard they had stucco that was flexible. I saw it applied on a...

    Re: Nutone Kitchen Exhaust Fan

I try and watch the contractors when they come. Sometimes I swear I know more than them!

My one concern with the glass block idea is grease on the outside. But it's low enough to clean.

  4. Re: New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

I am just in the planning stage...thus the quest for the most reliable exterior material.

I haven't noticed it much. It just looked like it wouldn't rot and you can paint it.

    Re: Nutone Kitchen Exhaust Fan

How did you handle the venting? This would be for a brick ranch built in 1956. So the hole is about 18 inches above the range and goes straight out.

So you have a hole in the side of the house. ...
  6. Re: New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

I thought stucco cracks. And do you paint that or do you leave it the color it came in?

Painting is not a big deal for me. Just curious?

Oh in SoCal do those insulated concrete forms are they...
  7. Re: New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

I was planning on using insulated concrete form for the house itself.

    Re: Nutone Kitchen Exhaust Fan

I know you can get the parts. I have been trading emails with Nutone.

I just don't how easy it would be to replace.

I think it may be easier to put in a hood.

    Then all the hardware...
  9. New House - BEST EXTERIOR choice

I want opinions. What is the best, least maintenance prone exterior?

I want to build with insulated concrete forms.

So I was thinking Fiber Cement or Vinyl siding.

    I want something I won't...

    Nutone Kitchen Exhaust Fan

I have a Nutone kitchen exhaust fan. Not a range hood, but a fan though the wall.

The part that is outside the house had a damper at one time that would flap back to prevent cold air from...

    Re: Superinsualted House

The common response seems to be replacing the air. I thought Air to Air heat exchangers would be a given.

I just was curious about maximum or recommended insulation for the walls and ceiling.

    Superinsualted House

I was wondering what a Superinsulated house would qualify as being "Super"-insulated?

I like those insulated concrete forms I see on TV but the are like r-30 walls. Shouldn't a SUPER insulated...

    Bathroom Vent Fans

What type of service person would install a bathroom vent fan? In this bathroom NO FAN ever existed.
Is this HVAC or a roofer or an electrician?

    Any suggestions?

  16. Re: Central Brass COSTS TOO MUCH to OWN AND OPERATE. Parts are EXPENSIVE!

I don't know about Peerless or Moen, some of those don't look that strong. And Peerless I have no experience with. Delta looks better. They have much better support.

    Central Brass that company...
