I am a little confused Beth, you say there is a visqueen(plastic?) layer underneath the plaster?

If there are only some surface cracking how can you see how the plaster is made up?

    It seems...

    Re: raised vegetable beds

DJ1, sadly not! My knees wouldn't be up to hopping around on one leg these days. Not to mention a distinct lack of flute playing skills lol!

Re: Chimney leak - need ideas

  6. Re: How do you replace damaged logs in a log home?

Keith is right, normally only the damaged sections would be removed and new timber 'spliced' back in. How depends on the type of construction, there are a few.

I like the boracare, it penetrates...
  7. Re: Plaster and Lath - remove or not to remove?

Re: Cleaning mexican terra cotta floor tile

For in the house work, I like to have a...
  10. Re: Plaster and Lath - remove or not to remove?

Since some insulation work has already been done, I wonder if it might be a good idea to have a "thermal" survey done (if there is someone in your area).

This will clearly show where all that...

    Re: lathe & plaster shower

Totaally agree to strip out almost any lath and plaster rather than tile over it.

Even regular drywall shouldn't be used behind tiles (although often is and always used to be, esp. in the UK).

  13. Infrared thermometers.....man enough for the job?

We are the same here, I want to know about any shortfalls, as our electricity bills here in Norway are mind bogglingly stupid, like $600 a month stupid.

I have just been looking on armazon.com and...
