Cut carpet for wood floor transition
I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to cut existing carpet so I can install a transition piece between the carpet and a newly installed hardwood (engineered) floor.
The transition piece I have has been cut to fit the door frame, and will overlap the wood floor fine ... but the carpet is currently too far into the door frame to fit neatly.
I need to cut the carpet by about 1/2" so the transition piece will fit correctly, but I want to do everything possible to avoid botching it. The floor has already been a lot more expensive than I thought it would be, and I don't want to add to the cost by having to replace the carpeting too.
