I pulled up the carpet of our new (to us) house and found sturdi-floor or sturdi-board T&G 1 1/8" panels. The floor has no squeaks in it at all so that's great. But there are holes drilled in about 50% of the panels 5/8" in dia +/- as well as a few gaps between the panels that I can feel air blowing through (up from the crawl space). The crawl space has a dirt floor and I just replaced the plastic vapor barrier through out. Crawl space is well vented. Is there any reason not to fill the drilled holes and the gaps between some of the panels? I am planning to replace the old carpet with a mix of carpet and hard wood. Any reason to install felt paper below either? There was none before.
Re: Sturdi floor
No reason to install felt that I can think of. What part of the country are you in?
