Remove paint from old clear coat finish
I am remodeling a 1930's house in Massachusetts. We uncovered old, original pine beadboard that still had a decent looking finish on it, so decided to leave it exposed. During the remodel we got some new latex paint on the clear coat finish of the bead board, and there's also some old paint from some past remodel. I'm not sure what formulation of product they used to put a clear finish coat on wood back then. I tried Goof Off remover in a small spot to test, but it softened the clear finish on the wood pretty badly, and didn't do much to the old remodel paint (I assume it may be oil paint, as the Goof Off does a good job cleaning off newer latex products).
So to sum all that up, I'm looking for something to remove new latex and old oil paint from an original clear coat finish on circa 1930's beadboard without harming the finish. Is there such a product?
Thanks for any advice.
