Re: new panel for new home
Ohms law.

55,600VA (Watts) / 240Volts = 231.666 Amps. Post back all electical usage and SQ/FT and would be happy to recalc.

Re: new panel for new home
Simple answer 55600va/240 volts =55600/240 volts = 231 amps

If you actually have that much of a constant load you multiple the amps times 1.25 so 231 X 1.25= 288.75 amps The smallest panel avalible would then be a 300 amp panel and service.

Naw. Wrong.

The first 10Kva is figured at 100% and the rest at 40% as far as service size per NEC.

A load calc needs to be done for the home. Really doubt a 300A service is required.

I said "If you actually have that much of a constant load " perhaps I wasn't clear enough, I guess I should have added "unlikely". But I do agree that a load calc needs to be done and doubt a 300 amp panel would be required.

If 55,600Va is a constant load, these folks need a serious lifestyle change.
