We have a truss uplift problem in our house. The ceiling in the center of the house lifts up about 1/2" from the walls in the winter and comes back down in the spring. We have not found a contractor that has heard of this and nobody has offered a good solution. One engineer suggested putting crown molding and attaching it to the ceiling and not the walls to let the crown move up with the uplift, but others have said that without any caulking on the bottom of the crown it will not look good. There appear to be other complicated solutions available but we have found nobody here in Atlanta that knows how to fix it. We don't know what to do.
Re: Truss Uplift
Howdy are there strong tie straps/ hurricane ties, rafter ties... at the top plate of the outside walls?walls to the truss?
I have to admit this is unusual in winter is there a 1/2" separation wall from ceiling? With snow load the truss can deflect 1/2" which causes wrinkle type damage to the junction of ceiling to wall.
