How do you install countertops higher than an old bay window??
We have a 1939 home with a north-facing beautiful 10 foot bay window whose ledges start 28 inches off the ground in the small 10 x 15 foot kitchen. Unfortunately, the big old beautiful bay window plus a western-facing window over the current sink a creates deadspace; the kitchen is too small for a permanent island to hold a sink or dishwasher instead; and messing with the outside wall to install smaller/higher windows is NOT an option. To increase counterspace while maintaining movement in the kitchen, a friend suggested installing a sink, counter (with lip) and lower cabinets across the bay window, and installing "window wells" so that the windows could still open. Unfortunately, I can't find pictures, directions, or examples of how it would look. Have you tried this on THIS OLD HOUSE? Has anyone? Please help! We REALLY want to move on this project.
