Old Pipes Stuck in Well
I have a 170 ft. well that used to have a surface mounted jet pump which I am replacing with a submersible pump. When the original pump was stolen the pipes were cut and dropped back down into the well. The tops of the pipes are about 25 ft. down and I have no idea how far down they go. My well installer is suggesting a more expensive narrow diameter submersible pump which he thinks can be lowered past the remnant pipes. Is there a way to retrieve the unthreaded pipes from the well? Any other suggestions?
