Recessed radiators in addition
We are doing a small (150 SF) addition and remodel to the first floor rear of our 1916 Dutch Colonial. The total renovated/added area will be about 400 SF. For part of this (kitchen workspace and bath) our contractor recommends a hot water loop off our boiler. For the rest, the plan is to get two small steam radiators, using a line that served a radiator in the old space. (He says that the whole area is too big for the hot water loop, although other contractors said otherwise.)
Because space is very tight, recessed radiators are a logical choice, but there are big aesthetic issues. Does anybody make any that don't look like they belong in 1940's commercial buildings? Any other ideas for something that's not bulky but would look right in our home? Similarly, any aesthetic options re the bathroom baseboard? Any info and ideas would be much appreciated.
