My house is a 60 year old cape style home. I am planning on replacing the downstairs front windows because the seals have broken. I'm hoping to take advantage of the 2010 tax refund for these windows.
I'd like to replace these windows with an updated look, while giving the house curb appeal. I'd also like to have better ventilation on the right window, so I'm considering double hungs for that window replacement.
For the left window, I've got a few thoughts. The first is to keep it similar to what is there, making the picture window slightly narrower and the double hungs wider. The second option is to use 3 equally sized double hungs for uniformity. The third option is to use a wide double hung in the middle (approx 42") with 2 narrower double hungs on either side (approx 36-38").
current measurements: the window on the left is approx. 120" wide, the window on the right is approx. 80".
I'm interested in opinions or other suggestions.
