Have a problem with surging hot and cold water. I have a well.
Is it possible that the sump I want to install in my basement does not have to be installed in the corner of the basement like I've seen in so many articles but more toward the middle of the room. I currently have a pit dug for a pump in the corner but there is no pump installed. It was there when I purchased the home 25 years ago. Recently I've been getting water when we get a heavy rain 3+ inches but it is coming in from the middle of the room. The pit dug in the corner is bone dry and seems to stay dry throughout the duration of the rain.Is this reasonable?
i live in Southern Ca. in a house that is about 55 years old.It is on a raised foundation and I would like to insulate the sub flooring under the house. What would be the best way to go about doing this and with what product?

I want to know what the term " punch out man" means. I need more than a three word answer. Thanks
Our home was built in early 80's. We are on a well and I would like to install a water softner unit. We have told conflicting stories. One, is that it would ruin all our plumbing if we installed a softener without installing all new pipes because of the build up in the pipes. Second, is it would be fine to install a unit now without replacing all the pipes. I would appreciate a professional, non partial answer to this question. I am badly in need of soft water. Thank you.
